HYGEIA °° HYGEIA [Ὑγεία] was the goddess of good health and sanitation. Daughter to Asclepius and Epione, sister to Makhaon, Podaleirios, Iaso, Aigle, Panakea, and follower of Aphrodite.HETTIE °° Hygeia is a very wallflower-esque, mousy character whose main priority is to subtly bring as much wellbeing back into the world (especially the “futuristic” world, she despairs!) as is in her will. She is known to, behind people’s backs, casually swipe at dusty drawer tops and other neglected items as such. She is also the one who constantly looks out for others’ wellbeing and, if too late in preventing sickness, is first to arrive at the ailing person’s house with specially prescribed medicine and other remedial items—often before the victim him/herself even knows he or she is sick. More frequently she simply leaves her basket of items (or notes of warning) on their doorstep prior to any signs or even thoughts of illness. Hygeia does not merely see this as her delight but somehow, at the end of the day, rather her unspoken duty above all else. Besides being the invisible little maid and disease fighter, Hygeia enjoys drinking tea, reading, and baking. She does not enjoy the idea of sexual intercourse being a virgin goddess, or anything iffy for that matter, and reflexively stands with a relatively large margin between her and the next person as to ensure her safety from any viruses or whatever else that might prove harmful in the long run.Emotional-wise, Hygeia is by default a light and mild being whose alert mind is rather unknown to the outer world based on her usual demeanor—though she can also possess a streak of the temper the Olympian gods are famous for. She can be rather dry and candid at times as well, and her usual kind, placid personality is also laced through with a kind of edginess whose primary trigger is the sense of unsanitary things. This frequently causes her to, for lack of better wording, freak out. She heartily believes in the phrase “Dull women have immaculate houses”—in which she does not mind being dull if an immaculate health and home is the reward of being so. |
